Position: Mechanical Assembler

Location:Peabody, MA 01960

Duration: 6 Months ("Possible Extension")

Shift Time: 7:00 am - 3:30 pm (Monday - Friday)

Summary

The client looking for an experienced assembler in their Mechanical Assembly department. The work involves using hand and power tools to assemble, kit and pack large mechanical and pneumatic assemblies.

Responsibilities

• The person must be able to understand and follow assembly prints, work packages, and air diagrams.
• Familiarity with electrical assembly or sheet metal fabrication would be a plus.
• The person may work individually or as part of a team on large, complicated assemblies.
• Quality of work and attention to detail must be good.
• Must be able to check own work at different stages and work with minimal supervision in an ISO 9001 environment.
• Position requires the occasional movement of up to 50 pounds.
• One to three years of experience preferred.
• Tasks will vary. In addition to mechanical assembly, the job will include:
• Drilling, tapping, and grinding of parts
• Cleaning, packing, and crating of finished parts
• Use of wood working equipment
• Material Handling and use of overhead crane
• Use of verniers, protractors, squares, tape measures and other measuring devices
• Work in other departments as needed
  
  

Job Specifications

• Education: A Secondary Certificate/High School Diploma or equivalent combination of relevant education and work experience that will allow successful performance of job expectations is preferred.
• Certifications: Vocational training, apprenticeships or the equivalent experience in related field
• Years Experience: 0-2 years of relevant experience

• Good mechanical aptitude
• Able to operate a variety of hand tools and light machinery
• Capable of performing basic mathematics
• Ability to read and interpret company documents, such as safety rules, operating/manufacturing instructions, policies and procedure
• Good manual dexterity required to work with small parts
• Able to problem-solve using existing procedures to perform straightforward tasks
• Effective oral, written and interpersonal skills
