POSITION SUMMARY:

Provides leadership and directs the operations of one or more Akin service site(s). Ensures Akin community visibility through active participation in appropriate provider organizations and funding bodies. May be asked to assist Regional Director with basic activities related to resource development. Ensures effective and efficient utilization of personnel, fiscal resources, facilities, and monitors program(s) performance. Develops a local strategic plan in alignment with the agency plan. Responsible for implementing priorities within the strategic plan. Has access to protected healthcare information (PHI) or confidential identifiable information (CII), both paper and electronic, as necessary, to perform related job duties and responsibilities.

Essential Functions

Management

  • Promotes service activities and Akin visibility through community activities
  • Promotes Akin advocacy and systems change goals in coalitions, advocacy groups and professional groups both through direct participation and by supporting employee members participating in these groups
  • Works with the Finance and Accounting team to monitor the community budget
  • Organizes and ensures appropriate operations of one or more service sites
  • Monitors all funding and other contracts for compliance, concerns and opportunities and informs the appropriate Akin management of any pertinent information
  • Coordinates and implements planning and evaluation of programs and assists with research projects
  • Ensures that all records and statistics for one or more service sites are appropriately maintained

Administration/Planning

  • Participates in administrative activities, e.g., leadership team meetings, management meetings, and facility planning
  • May be asked to assist Regional Director with community activities related to resource development, including, but not limited to, the development of grants, foundations, and public and private contracts
  • Supervises facilities management, including maintenance, development of lease agreements, and capital improvements for one or more service sites in conjunction with the Director of Facilities

Supervision

  • Provides leadership, direction, and supervision to Program employee at one or more service sites
  • Maintains regular supervisory meetings with individual employee to review work assignments
  • Maintains a working knowledge of service activities and, in partnership with Program Employee, implements best-practice standards
  • Provides an annual performance evaluation of all employee

Other

  • Must possess strong human relations skills to communicate and work within a culturally diverse work environment and community
  • Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

  • Requires an ability to hire, effectively lead, manage, coach, and discipline employee
  • Must possess knowledge and skills in social service or nonprofit management
  • Must possess strong human-relations skills to communicate effectively with employee, management and community
  • Skills in community organizing and liaison
  • Proficient in MS Office
  • Requires an ability to work independently and to organize and prioritize responsibilities
  • Understanding and experience in the provision of services to a diverse socioeconomic and cultural population

Working Environment

This job is performed in a professional office environment. The following list is representative of the work environment employees encounter while performing the essential functions of this job:

  • Ability to sit at a computer for an extended period
  • Limited travel to other site locations within the state

Working Remotely

Working remotely is a benefit of Akin’s flexible workplace, but remote work cannot be offered for all positions. Some positions require daily presence in the office. Remote work arrangements may be adjusted or rescinded based upon business needs.

Physical Demands

  • While performing the essential duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone keyboard; occasionally to reach, stoop and kneel
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision requirements due to computer work
  • Regular, predictable attendance is required

Minimum Qualifications

  • 5 years related experience at managerial level, or a combination of education and experience that demonstrates the required knowledge, skills, and abilities required
  • Community-based experience in social service or nonprofit agencies
  • Demonstrated supervisory experience that reflects progressive responsibilities in hiring, firing, training, performance management, conflict resolution and disciplinary counseling
  • Experience working directly with children, youth, and family programs
  • Requires experience and training in management, administration, and/or planning
  • Experience and skill in community organizing and community liaison
  • Experience in providing services to a diverse socioeconomic and cultural population
  • Successful completion of a criminal background check
  • Successful completion of a drivers check if position requires driving on a regular basis (at least three times per week) or drives clients. Must not have more than two driving incidents within the last three years

  • Bachelors degree

Salary Range And Benefits

The salary range for this position is $71,438 - $104,243. The starting salary range for this position is $71,438 - $79,639 DOE for external candidates.

Full-time employees will also receive 10 days of vacation leave each year, three Employee Appreciation Day each year, and will accrue one sick day per month (pro-rated for part-time employees). Employees will also enjoy 15 paid holidays throughout the calendar year. We also offer EAP and mental health benefits.
