The CTRS/PrEP Educator and Prevention Coordinator for the Counseling, Testing and Referral Services Program at AID Atlanta is a skilled community health specialist who is responsible for providing Counseling, Testing and Referral and Linkage Services (CTRS) within Education and Prevention and in the community at off-site venues where high-risk target population testing is conducted. The CTRS/PrEP Educator and Prevention Coordinator is responsible for conducting prevention counseling, testing and post-test counseling for HIV and other STIs as defined by AID Atlanta.

This position will focus on identifying and providing HIV and other STI counseling, PrEP information, testing, and referral services as well as collaborating with partners, follow up with community members and ensuring that patients can access medication for PrEP and supportive services at AID Atlanta main office. All staff, however, are required to participate in occasional off-site testing events generally accounting for 10% of time worked.

The individual is to perform all functions in observance of the Agency's rules, regulations, philosophy, objectives and policies, including but not limited to the services and duties below.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with Community Engagement and Outreach team members to promote HIV and STI testing, PrEP, and preventive health behaviors within the community through direct interactions and events. o Supports departmental public health efforts by educating and counseling patients visiting AID Atlanta, in the community, and callers from the GA HIV and STI Infoline about pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) and prevention.
  • Coordinates and manages the implementation of the PrEP program at AID Atlanta, working in tandem with the Wellness Clinic staff, Practice Manager, and AHF Linkage.
  • Interacts with community members and responds to inquiries about PrEP and testing services; providing warm transfer of patients interested in PrEP to AID Atlanta Wellness Center.
  • Collaborates with community health workers, such as Fulton-DeKalb Hospital Authority to address SDOH barriers.
  • Manages YTD PrEP log for agency KPI Reporting and produces monthly reports, according to agency standards to support department data collection and documentation in a timely and efficient manner. o Engages and collaborates with internal and external stakeholders, including grant partners like The FultonDeKalb Hospital Authority, WomenR, Inc., Emory Hope Clinic, and Grady Memorial Health. Maintaining relationships, attending meetings, and hosting joint initiatives and events
  • Attends trainings, conferences, and meetings, as requested by program manager and department director o Assists clients with scheduling follow-up appointments with medical providers and make referrals to programs as appropriate
  • Creates educational material and health communications about HIV Prevention, STI testing, and PrEP services.

Required

QUALIFICATIONS - EDUCATION & WORK EXPERIENCE

Knowledge of HIV/STD infection and AIDS

Knowledge of various priority populations and sensitivity to their norms, values, and cultural beliefs

Must have own reliable transportation

Must have Bachelor's degree in social science or related field

Highly Preferred

Work experience in HIV prevention presentation, Testing & Counseling

Certification in the Fundamentals of HIV Prevention Counseling and/or HIV Testing and Counseling

Bilingual (Spanish)

Bachelor's degree of higher education in public health, health education or a related social services field

Graduate of a Georgia accredited school in Medical Assisting and/or Phlebotomy
