Qualifications

  • Education Required: Open.
  • Education Preferred: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience Required: Equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience Preferred: Paid or volunteer human service experience (with children, domestic violence, and sexual assault victims).
  • Valid driver’s license in good standing and vehicle with appropriate auto insurance required. Must be able to pass the motor vehicle record background check.

Position Specifics

  • Typically reflecting a 32-hour work week.
  • Position Hours: Weekdays (Monday - Thursday OR Tuesday - Friday) typically 11 am - 7 pm
  • Full-time position.
  • Nonexempt hourly position.
  • $27.05 per hour estimated $45,000.00 per year.

  • Service Area: The position is located in Scott County, Iowa

Position Details

The Advocate of Shelter Youth will provide comprehensive trauma-informed and survivor-centered services to child witnesses/survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and other violent crimes who are currently residing at the shelter. This position will provide case management, immediate shelter, related supportive services, and emotional support to all shelter residents. In addition, this position will provide emotional support and crisis intervention to callers on the 24-hour crisis line. This position must have reliable transportation and proof of auto insurance. This position will participate in the 12-hour in-call shelter backup rotation. These responsibilities are carried out under the direction of the Supervisor of Shelter & Housing. This position will need to have a flexible schedule that may include working some nights, weekends, and holidays.
