The role
As an engineer in our 247 team, you will play a pivotal role in providing advanced, out of hours technical expertise to maintain a high level of support service for our SMB customers. You will contribute to the professional growth of team members, and optimize processes for improved efficiency and customer satisfaction. Our engineers are responsible for working with customers through troubleshooting, monitoring and enhancing solutions, with a focus on customer experience, where all members of the team work together to maintain SLAs and KPIs. This position will be based across our Manchester office as well as our Data Centre in Stretford.
What will I be doing?
- Delivering unparalleled customer service and advice to our customers via calls and tickets, covering our core and emergency support hours, 24 hours a day, 7days a week
- Contributing to the maintenance and development of our customer solutions, including consulting them on how we can best improve their technical environments
- Helping with the setup, configuration, and support of our Linux and Windows servers
- Innovating and aiding in the development of new and improved products
- Developing your expertise in the vast suite of technologies we work with
What will I bring to the role?
- Experience installing, configuring, and supporting most of the following specifics:
o Windows Server 2012 – 2022
o Active Directory
o Familiarity with virtualisation platforms, esp. Hyper-V and vSphere products
o IIS, inc. as part of a mixed Windows/Linux web stack
o Exchange and Exchange Online/Office 365
o Microsoft SQL Server
o Familiarity with PowerShell, the .NET family of languages, and/or basic
coding concepts.
o DNS
- Proficient knowledge in server hardware, Linux services and protocols commonly used in hosting environments:
o RedHat / Debian based distributions
o DNS
o NGINX / Apache
o MySQL / MariaDB
o FTP / FTPS / SFTP
o Mail Management (eg. Exim, Postfix)
o Web Hosting Management GUIs (eg. cPanel, Plesk)
• TCP/IP and basic network troubleshooting
