The Wireless Engineer position resides in the Lab Services department at CableLabs. This department focuses on delivering testing services to external clients and internal project teams. Our team plays a crucial role in evaluating best-in-class test equipment, the latest residential and enterprise-grade wireless equipment, and creating test strategies to validate technical requirements and performance objectives.

The position is responsible for executing and reporting of test cases, and test plans, used to validate device implementations in the wireless industry. The impact of your work will provide engineering services in support of product and service development activities for the benefit of CableLabs, its member operators and the supplier ecosystem that supports them.

What You’ll Do

  • Translate specific business and strategic requirements into actionable technical requirements, driving test planning and technology decisions.
  • Executing, troubleshooting, and communicating test case coverage.
  • Work with senior team members to help define and improve test cases.
  • Identify and troubleshoot issues with the following:
    • Devices under test;
    • test environments; and,
    • test equipment.
  • Follow project plans and proactively identify risks and mitigation.
  • Ability to work in collaborative environment.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

What Is a Must Have

  • Associate degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of IP networking protocols with emphasis in Media Access Control and Transport protocols
  • 3-5 years hands-on experience in one or more of the following:
    • Configuring and troubleshooting wireless home networking equipment
    • Designing test strategies and associated lab environments
    • Automating and executing test cases
    • Testing consumer electronic equipment
What Will Set You Apart

  • B.S. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Designing test plans for CPE and/or network equipment.
  • Wi-Fi, ZigBee, ZWave, and BLE.
  • Low powered WAN networks including sensors.
  • LTE technologies such as eNodeB and MME.
  • Experience in at least one computer scripting language.

Compensation: The salary range is $90,000 to $110,000. This position is eligible for bonus incentive compensation up to 17.5% of base salary.

This job operates in a professional office and lab environment. This role routinely uses standard office and lab equipment which may require the ability to lift, move and transport related laboratory equipment up to 50lbs.
