Senior Research And Development Engineer

This well-established medical device start up is hiring for a Senior/ Principal R&D Engineer with a focus on catheter/ stent development. • Utilizes advanced engineering expertise for research, development, design, and assessment of materials, components, assemblies, processes, or equipment.
• Communicates design specifications effectively to support teams verbally and in writing.
• Enhances company R&D capabilities.
• Contributes to marketing and engineering specifications, feasibility studies, cost analysis, design reviews, risk assessments, and product testing.
• Creates and executes detailed R&D plans to achieve project objectives.
• Directs and coordinates project activities of support staff.
• Develops prototypes and processes using existing resources or specifies necessary equipment.
• Identifies and implements process improvements to enhance efficiency and quality.
• Constructs prototypes based on engineering instructions.
• Submits patent disclosures.
• Participates in animal studies.
• Establishes effective communication within and across teams.
• Collaborates with medical professionals throughout prototype development, from specification to clinical testing.

Required Skills:

• Project management from concept to market release
• Proficiency in SolidWorks/CAD, word processing, spreadsheet, and project management software
• Familiarity with catheters
• Knowledge of medical device regulatory requirements
• Strong analytical and communication abilities
• Creativity and commitment to excellence

Experience:

• 5 years in medical design within a clinical setting
• 2-3 years in team leadership or supervision

Education:

• BS in Biomedical, Mechanical, or related field
