Janitor

"Position overview:

Under general direction, performs custodial and general maintenance services by keeping warehouse in clean and orderly condition. Performs heavy cleaning duties, such as cleaning floors, shampooing rugs, washing walls and glass, and removing trash.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Clean warehouse floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, or vacuuming.
• Gather and empty trash.
• Service, clean and supply restrooms.
• Clean windows, glass partitions, and mirrors, using soapy water or other cleaners, sponges and squeegees.
• Dust furniture, walls, machines, and equipment.
• Mix water and detergents or acids in containers to prepare cleaning solutions, according to specifications.
• Steam-clean or shampoo carpets.
• Strip, seal, finish, and polish floors.
• Follow procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment, in order to prevent damage to floors and fixtures.
• Move heavy furniture, equipment, and supplies, either manually or by using hand trucks.
• Notify supervisor concerning the need for major repairs.
• Remove snow from sidewalks, driveways, and parking areas, using snowplows, snow blowers and snow shovels and spread snow melting chemicals.
• Set up, arrange, and remove decorations, tables, chairs, ladders, and scaffolding to prepare facilities for events such as company barbeques or meetings..
• Perform related duties as assigned by supervisor.
• Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures.
  
  

Education And/or Work Experience Requirements

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers.
• Excellent computer proficiency (MS Office - Word, Excel and Outlook).
• Must have A certification.
• Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service.
• Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Associate degree preferred.

• Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
• Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
