Job Description:
Mutch Associates is seeking a mid-level groundwater modeler to join its Hawthorne, New York office working on multidisciplinary environmental engineering/science projects pertaining to studies of the migration and behavior of chemicals in the environment, characterization of hydrogeologic systems, and the extent of contamination in those systems. The position is focused on the development and application of groundwater flow models and groundwater fate and transport models across porous media and fractured rock systems. The ideal candidate will possess a strong attention to detail with excellent analytical, multitasking, and judgment capabilities. Key attributes desired in a candidate include the ability to work independently as well as part of a team as well as excellent written and verbal communication skills. The position entails occasional field work including hydrogeologic testing and environmental sampling of groundwater, surface water, soil, and sediments.
Salary Range:$90,000 - $120,000

Required Skills/Experience:
M.S. or M.E. degree in Hydrogeology, Environmental Engineering, Geology, Engineering Geology, or other related discipline
3-6 years of professional services consulting experience with a focus on groundwater and/or environmental systems modeling
Experience with MODFLOW, MT3D, or RT3D
Strong computer literacy skills including proficiency in MS Office software
Ability to travel to temporary assignments across the U.S.
U.S. Citizenship or authorization to work in the United States
Must possess a valid driver's license
Must have a reliable form of transportation to travel to job sites and the office
Ability to lift up to 40 lbs
Preferred Skills/Experience:
Experience with Geographic Information Systems such as QGIS or ArcGIS is preferred
Experience with coding (e.g. Python, R, or FORTRAN) is preferred
Experience with groundwater modeling interfaces such as GMS, Groundwater Vistas, Visual MODFLOW, Model Muse, or FloPy is preferred
Experience with geostatistical interpretation and geological modeling using LEAPFROG or equivalent software is preferred
