Financial Aid Outreach Coordinator

The overall purpose of this job is to advise, guide, and educate current students, prospective students, families, counselors, faculty and staff, and the overall community on financial aid programs while adhering to the University and FERPA policies.


Responsibilities

Responsible for creating a financial literacy program that includes but is not limited to the FAFSA application process, budget development, debt management, and student resources for education. Responsible for scheduling appointments via teams, phone, or in person with all students and their families to advise on their specific financial situation and needs. Represents the financial aid office at all outreach events such as local high schools, community events, student orientation, and etc. Responsible for creating and delivering financial literacy presentations at outreach events when needed. Responsible for staying informed on all federal, state, and institutional regulations. Responsible for providing great customer service to all students and handles all situations with tact and discretion. Serves as a liaison for financial aid and collaborates with other departments such as Admissions, Bursar, OCM, and the student launchpad to promote cooperative relationships. This position will also review and maintain the Financial Aid Policies and Procedures as applicable to this role, as well as monitor the campus website. Position will assist Associate Director and Director with the Financial Literacy Program. Other duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in a related field. A minimum of two years of direct financial aid experience or four years of related professional experience. Ability to interpret and apply policies and procedures. Ability to travel independently to outreach events. Excellent customer service skills with the ability to counsel parents and/or students with confidential and delicate situations. High level of organization and ability to handle a large volume of work under pressure. Effective oral, written, listening and communication skills.


Preferred Qualifications

Customer service experience is preferred. Experience as a presenter. Ability to multitask in a high traffic environment and still provide timely, accurate results. Ability to work independently, prioritize and attend to details as needed. Ability to make independent decisions when scheduling appointments for students. Ability to read, analyze and interpret financial aid reporting. Ability to read, analyze and interpret federal/state regulations and institutional policies and procedures. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to train students and supervisors. Ability to respond effectively to common inquiries or complaints from students/families with regards to Federal Work study.
