Reports to: EVS Director
Summary of Work: Responsible for the daily operations of Environmental Services (EVS) according to facility policy and procedures, as well as federal/state regulations. The Supervisor is responsible for providing leadership and guidance to ensure that safety standards, cleanliness standards, and client expectations are satisfactorily met. These roles and responsibilities apply to this position at Union General Hospital only, as the Environmental Services Director is based in this facility. As such, at Union General Hospital, the Environmental Services Director will be responsible for ADP timekeeping, annual competencies and evaluations, hiring and firing, disciplinary action, policy writing and revision, and any other administrative functions not listed below.

The Supervisor is responsible for providing leadership and guidance to ensure that safety standards, cleanliness standards, and client expectations are satisfactorily met. These roles and responsibilities apply to this position at Union General Hospital only, as the Environmental Services Director is based in this facility. As such, at Union General Hospital, the Environmental Services Director will be responsible for ADP timekeeping, annual competencies and evaluations, hiring and firing, disciplinary action, policy writing and revision, and any other administrative functions not listed below.
Responsibilities
- Manage and direct the day–to–day operations of the EVS department, including Patient Transport and Valet staff members.
- Delegate daily assignments and projects; includes follow up to ensure a safe, neat, and hygienically clean environment for all guests.
- Assist in staff training and provide feedback for annual performance evaluations.
- Provide information and feedback to the EVS staff relative to Union General Health System.
- Monitors, Follows, and upholds departmental policies, procedures, and safety rules and regulations.
- Full scheduling responsibilities ensuring EVS is staffed and operational at all times.
- Assist in keeping safety related and compliance related material including: Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and applicable CDC, CMS, DOT, and OSHA guidelines, current and available to all team members.
- Maintain all staff performance records, such as monthly room cleaning totals, monthly room cleanliness audits, linen weight totals, etc.
- Assist with departmental training programs; initiate, promote, and follow-up team member recognition and incentive programs.
- Monitor proper use of building equipment and tools with emphasis on safety, including basic maintenance of all EVS equipment.
- Recommend potential candidates for employment and assist with the interview process.
- Provide onboarding and training to all new team members.
- Review monthly and annual budgets and provide feedback related to potential cost savings.
- Hours are determined by a 24-hour schedule and subject to change.
- Work nights, weekends, holidays, and on-call assignments as required.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Must be customer service oriented and have excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to multi-task and work independently.
- Must have basic computer skills and be able to efficiently use Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to maintain professional, courteous, and effective working relationships with all levels of the organization and outside business contacts and ability to lead and delegate assigned duties in a team atmosphere.
- Working knowledge and understanding of the SDS and applicable CDC, CMS, DOT, and OSHA requirements, including biohazard clean up and disposal.
- Experience in the operation and maintenance of floor care and cleaning equipment preferred.
