The Designer position is responsible for providing space planning, furniture applications, visualizations, specifications, and installation drawings specific to contract furniture; all while maintaining a high level of satisfaction with internal and external client groups. The position expects mentorship, commitment to the growth of the larger Design team, excellence in presentation skills, and a highly collaborative relationship with Sales peers to drive business.
Responsibilities And Duties
Training participation and engagement: self-guided, virtual, and collaborative learning
Design and specify Herman Miller, Knoll and other furniture for a variety of product applications, with additional willingness to learn and implement new product initiatives.
Determine project requirements in collaboration with COR team members and industry partners
Attend client meetings independently (if applicable) and act as a consultant for industry partners
Provide Design services that support the use of contract furniture, such as:
Initial programming and schematic Design process
Design and implementation of a furniture block plan
Ensuring space planning for furniture is code compliant
Design development supported by drawings and renderings (using CET and AutoCAD software)
Material application for projects: including workstations, private offices, and ancillary spaces
Teaming on field measurements and product inventories
Accurate drawings, visualizations, and product specifications
Proven excellence in ability to lead a client meeting and drive the Design solution
Proven excellence in ability to host showroom tours and contribute to presentations
Capable of prioritizing workload independently
Other duties as required

Required Education, Skills, And Experience
Minimum (1-5) years of professional experience in the Design industry
Degree in Interior Design or related field from a CIDA accredited school
Highly proficient in AutoCAD software, MS Office, and CET and ability to learn new software quickly
Strong interpersonal skills and leadership qualities
Effective organization skills with a critical eye for details
Ability to work independently and be a contributing team player
Initiative to seek guidance to advance skills on product, design process, and technology
Qualify and articulate process issues to Design Management
Ability to seek information, resolve problems, and share insight with a larger team
Proven track record of problem-solving skills and informed decision-making ability to listen, ask questions, and respond appropriately
Proven track record of critical thinking, strategic mindset, and ability to employ big picture assessment
Professionalism in manner, attire, and all forms of communication
Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with a wide range of people within and outside of COR:
Must be able to read, write, interpret and communicate fluently in English
Writing skills must be sufficient to compose and edit a variety of documents using correct spelling, grammar and punctuation with the ability to pay close attention to detail and proofread work carefully
Ability to work accurately to meet deadlines by adapting to changes in work environment, work assignments, and/or changes in priorities in a flexible way by working from your own initiative and/or following direction, policies, or procedures
Use analytical and decision-making skills to offer options and resolve problems in a variety of contexts
Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team ensuring efficiency of projects from start to finish

Work performed in fast-paced office environment daily with visits to various sites including warehouse, construction sites, client sites and offices
