POSITION SUMMARY: This position is primarily responsible for performing a wide range of custodial duties with a focus on cleaning details that meet the Bank’s image standards. The Custodian will ensure the buildings are tidy, clean, and well-maintained; manage minor repairs within proper operating and safety standards to keep the building aesthetically intact; and assist the facilities department with building and grounds maintenance, including facilities projects, as needed.

Duties

Ensure spaces are kept clean throughout the day for staff to conduct professional business in a clean well-kept manor. Perform a variety of cleaning duties including but not limited to the functions below:

  • Sweeping, mopping and vacuuming floors/carpets.
  • Waxing furniture and cleaning fixtures.
  • Disposing of trash, emptying trash receptacles and recycling.
  • Wash and sanitize toilets, sinks and showers and restock disposables (e.g. soap).
  • Wipe mirrors and windows.

Maintaining cleaning equipment and keeping inventory of cleaning agents and equipment.

Keeping buildings free from indoor pests.

Prepare the building and equipment for closing by ensuring lights are switched off. Secure facilities after operating hours by locking doors, closing windows and setting the alarm.

Repair Work

Report any damage in need of repair.

Facilities Assistance

Complete additional facilities related tasks as necessary including but not limited to painting, window cleaning, etc.

Provide helpful assistance to the facilities team relative to light duty maintenance within building and on grounds, and assist with facilities projects, as needed.

Support Bank products/services: Maintain knowledge of current Bank products and services. Actively utilize as many Bank products and services as possible in order to fully understand their features and benefits and to be able to communicate effectively with customers and prospective customers.

Talk to customers and listen for “cues and clues” to determine needs; respond to customer inquiries and evaluate their needs; suggest Bank products/services to customers to meet their needs; make referrals to other Bank personnel as appropriate.

Community/public relations: Actively participate in community organizations and events. Represent the Bank in the community.

Other duties: Demonstrate reliable attendance and punctuality. Attend and participate in Bank meetings. Attend internal and external training to improve skills and knowledge relevant to the Custodian position.

Requirements

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • High school diploma, GED, or suitable equivalent.
  • A minimum of 2 years of custodial experience is required, with a preference for experience in commercial cleaning roles and focused on building upkeep.
  • Prior experience with building maintenance repairs and projects.

  • Proficient knowledge of cleaning equipment and agents.
  • Resilient to cleaning agents and chemicals.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Other Requirements

  • Must possess a valid driver’s license, the use of a serviceable automobile that is properly registered and proper liability automobile insurance as required by state law.
  • Must be able to lift supplies, furniture, and other materials of approximately 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to climb stairs.
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods of time and have physical endurance.
  • Must be able to assist with building maintenance, including but not limited to climbing ladders, moving furniture, etc.
  • Must be able to work collaboratively with managers to ensure standard performance outcomes.
  • Must be able to prioritize and organize workflow; must have good attention to detail; must be able to handle multiple jobs.
  • Must have the ability to think through a problem, following proper steps in finding resolution.
  • Must have a high degree of ethics and maintain confidentiality of customer information, data and accounts.
  • Must be friendly, courteous, and sensitive to the needs of customers and coworkers.
