What will you do?

As the Fiscal and Business Services Manager (FBSM), you oversee, plan, organize, and direct the work of both the Fiscal the Business Services units for the office. The FBSM cultivates a positive, engaged, and innovative work environment, and has experience resolving complex issues. The FBSM will focus on the following:

  • Monitor, organize, direct and evaluate the quality, quantity and effectiveness of the fiscal and business services units and make changes to ensure a productive environment.
  • Review operations for ways to increase efficiency and develop and implement new or improved management tools and reports to increase the accuracy, usefulness and availability of information.
  • Advise and provide consultation to executive and senior management on a range of highly sensitive and complex issues, procedures and policies impacting the office.

Working Conditions


  • This position is eligible for participation in the office’s hybrid telework program. Work at the alternate work location must be in California and conducted in a space that is ergonomically sound, private, distraction-free, and has safe working conditions to be eligible to telework.
  • Work performed in the office is in an air-conditioned high-rise building with elevator access and both natural and artificial lighting.
  • Work may require sitting for an extended period of time using a personal computer and the use of standard office equipment, such as phones, copiers or scanners.
  • Work may require periodic non-standard work hours and work during weekends to meet workload needs and demands.

This position is not eligible for a visa sponsorship. Applicants must be authorized to work in the US without the need for a visa sponsorship by the start date of employment. The California State Auditor’s Office is not an E-Verify employer.

  • You have experience working in FI$Cal or other financial systems.
  • You have experience working with control agencies.
  • You have experience with the development of complex solicitations, including IT and Non-IT contract development and procurements.
  • You have a demonstrated ability to effectively and efficiently communicate with others through strong written and oral communications skills.
  • You have demonstrated experience developing office-wide policies and procedures.
  • You have the ability to think strategically, anticipating future consequences and trends.
