Join the School of Clinical Medicine (SCM) HR Team, a dynamic and specialised group providing HR, recruitment, and clinical services to diverse departments and units within the SCM. We extend our support to the School of Biological Sciences, encompassing over 3200 colleagues, including 410 clinical professionals and 190 colleagues on CRUK/MRC legacy TUPE terms. Additionally, we cater to over 1000 visitors, contributing to a vibrant and collaborative work environment.

Role Overview

As an HR Assistant, you will play a pivotal role in delivering transactional and advisory HR support across departments. Your responsibilities will span the entire employment lifecycle, encompassing recruitment, onboarding, employment changes, and payroll functions. Your contribution will be integral to maintaining the high standards of service expected at SCM.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide exceptional HR support, including recruitment, training, advisory, and administrative assistance to staff and managers.
  • Undertake specific HR, Recruitment, or EDI projects to contribute to continuous improvement.
  • Offer advice to managers and staff on recruitment and HR matters in accordance with the University's policies and best practices.
  • Ensure responsive, coordinated, and high-quality HR administration and payroll services, demonstrating initiative in problem-solving.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for HR and recruitment activities, managing and prioritizing workload independently.
  • Uphold accuracy and professionalism in all duties performed.

Qualifications And Experience

  • Previous experience in a similar HR support role.
  • Strong knowledge of HR processes and best practices.
  • Excellent organizational and prioritization skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Familiarity with University policies and procedures is advantageous.
