Assistant General Manager

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and enthusiastic individual to work in the Division of Diagnostics and Therapies (D&T) in the Trust as an Assistant General Manager. You will be a key member of the Divisional management team and will contribute to the overall management and strategic development of the division as a whole.

D&T Division consists of many of the Trustwide services that underpin and support all the other clinical divisions, Radiology, Pharmacy, Laboratory Medicine, Therapies, Audiology, Orthotics, Medical Physics, MEMO, Neurophysiology, Resuscitation services and Infection Control and Tissue Viability.

This role offers a flexible working pattern of 0.9 WTE or 0.8 WTE (i.e. a 4 day week or a 9 day fortnight). We are looking for a motivated self-starter with experience of operational service management and improvement; a problem-solver with excellent communication and influencing skills who will be able to make a real impact on our services. You will find that D&T Division is supportive and encouraging of personal development and will be able to provide a breadth of experience from your involvement in the key services that are crucial to the Trust.

  • Developing relationships with the Heads of Service, Clinical Directors, Clinical Leads, with direct line management responsibility for one of the two divisional Performance & Operations Managers and the Head of Service for Resuscitation services.
  • Operational responsibility for Orthotics service (outsourced).
  • Performance lead for the division, including 6-week diagnostic waits (DM01) and RTT.
  • Playing a supporting role to Radiology and Laboratory Medicine services.
  • Ensure systems are in place for efficient and effective service delivery including supporting patient flow, and the resolution of operational issues, thus ensuring that the patient experience is of the highest possible quality.
  • Contribute to shaping Divisional work plans and provide opinion and feedback on the direction and management of Division.
  • Represent the Division at appropriate Trust and external meetings.
  • Ensure performance management structures are in place to assure delivery of business plan objectives within service areas.
  • Input into the process for investigating both informal and formal complaints. Responsible for ensuring that final written responses are made available in a timely fashion and actions implemented.
