Network and IT Manager

Job Overview:

The IT and Network Administrator you will be responsible for overseeing NxtWave’s IT-related technology operations and ensuring the smooth functioning of IT systems. This includes addressing and resolving network, WiFi, and system issues, managing user/ email accounts, and implementing IT solutions that support our growth. The ideal candidate will have a strong computer networking background, good problem-solving skills, and the ability to manage both strategic and operational aspects of NxtWave’s IT infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Network and Infrastructure Management:

• Plan, Design, Install, and Maintain Hardware and Software networks for our companies.
• As part of the Network setup for the new offices, you will perform the following tasks:
• Research network products, services, protocols, and standards in support of network procurement and development efforts.
• Coordinating with various internal teams and external vendors to Plan, Design, Install, and Maintain company networks.
• Setup, maintain, and monitor software Firewall, VPN, IDS, IPS, and other required network/security services
• Install, maintain, and monitor WiFi & LAN networks
• WiFi Access Points
• WiFi controllers
• Network switches
• Create segmented networks
• Secure the perimeter of the network
• Research and implement advanced network security solutions like AAA authentication, SIEM, etc.
• Provide solutions for various network requirements from different teams such as
• Creating VLANs for the isolation of the computers
• Providing VPN access to the network or a specific computer for remote user
• Mapping internal servers to local DNS records
• Routing specific system traffic via a dedicated public IP
• Support to other teams for any security implementations
• Monitor and maintain network performance(availability, utilization, throughput, latency, quality, etc.) to ensure the continuity and capacity of the network.
• Resolve WiFi or LAN network issues reported by end users
• Monitor network traffic for any policy violation and act upon it.
• Monitor Security Alerts in Firewalls and similar services to identify any malicious activities or activities against organization policies.
• Perform regular backups of network software
• Documentation of network architecture and network Assets (Current Status, Location, Firmware, Warranty, etc..)
• Create/Improve SOPs for different network activities.
• Monitor the IIL(Internet leased line) and contact the service provider in case of issues with the Internet link.
• Support in the implementation of Network and System Hardening to the computers on a need basis.
• Maintain and support ISO 27001 controls implementation.
• Be available and support during any company live streaming (also may require to be available a few hrs on Sundays once a month)
• Onboard new users to the network

2. Systems Administration:

• Manage and administer Microsoft 365 and G Suite accounts, including creation, deletion, and modification of user accounts.
• Oversee the setup, configuration, and maintenance of hardware and software systems.
• Ensure the efficient operation of all IT equipment and software, including updates and upgrades.

3. IT Support and Troubleshooting:

• Provide technical support to employees, addressing hardware, software, and network issues.
• Develop and implement IT policies and procedures to ensure efficient IT operations.
• Maintain an IT helpdesk and ensure timely resolution of IT support requests.

4. Strategic Planning and Implementation:

• Work with senior management to align IT strategies with business goals.
• Recommend and implement technology solutions to improve efficiency and performance.
• Plan and manage IT budgets, including forecasting future needs and ensuring cost-effectiveness.

5. Vendor and Resource Management:

• Manage relationships with external IT vendors and service providers.
• Evaluate and negotiate contracts to ensure optimal service and cost-efficiency.

6. Training and Development:

• Train staff on new technologies and systems.
• Develop documentation and resources for IT-related processes and systems.

Skills and Qualifications:

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in IT/Network/System management or a similar role.
• Relevant certifications (e.g. CompTIA Network , Cisco CCNA, Microsoft Certified IT Professional, Aruba Certified Network Architect, CEH) are necessary.
• Strong knowledge of network infrastructure, Wi-Fi systems, and network security.
• Strong knowledge and experience in setting up and maintaining UniFi/ Ubiquiti/ Aruba WiFi Devices, pfSense/ Fortinet/ Sophos Firewalls, and Cisco/ TP-Link/ D-Link/ Digisol/ Fortiswitch network switches is a must.
• Experience in Setting up, monitoring, and triaging security alerts from various sources like Firewalls, IDS/IPS, SIEM, etc.
• Hands-on experience in switch configuration, VLAN configuration, Firewalls and access points setup and configuration
• Ability to implement, administer, and troubleshoot network infrastructure devices: Wireless Access Points, WiFi Controllers, Switches, Firewalls, etc.
• Knowledge of designing network architectures.
• Familiar with CIS, NIST, and ISO 27001 controls implementation.
• Proficiency in managing Microsoft 365 and G Suite accounts.
• Strong knowledge of routing and switching.
• Ability to create network diagrams and documentation for design and planning network communication systems.
• Experience with troubleshooting and resolving hardware and software issues.
• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Strong communication, project management, time management, interpersonal, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Ability to set up and configure server hardware.
• Flexible to extend work hours to deliver the requirements.
