Pirro Vengu (born 24 April 1986 in Elbasan) is an Albanian politician serving as Minister of Defense of Albania since July 2024.

Education

He studied Human Sciences at Lycée Henri-IV, Paris graduating in 2008. He earned two bachelor's degrees in History and Philosophy from Université Paris Nanterre, Paris, France and a master's degree in Political History at the same university in 2010. Vengu studied for a master's degree in International Relations at Institut National des Langues et Civilizations Orientales, Paris, graduating in 2011.[1][2]

Career

Pirro Vengu was born on April 24, 1986, in Elbasan.

Before assuming this position, Mr. Vengu was the Director General of the Durrës Port Authority from 2019.

From 2017 to 2019, he served as the Director of Anticorruption at the Prime Minister’s Office.

From 2013 to 2017, Mr. Vengu was the Head of the Cabinet at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Previosly, from 2010 - 2013, Mr. Vengu was Research Programme Coordinator at European Council on Foreign Relations, Paris, France.

During 2009 - 2010 he worked as a Programme Assistant at European Council on Foreign Relations, Paris, France.

Mr. Vengu completed his studies in Human Sciences at Lycée Henri-IV, Paris; in 2008. He obtained a double bachelor's degree in History and Philosophy, Université Paris Nanterre, Paris, France.

In 2010, he completed a Master's degree in Political History, Université Paris Nanterre, Paris, France, and in 2011, a Master's degree in International Relations at Institut National des Langues et Civilizations Orientales, Paris, France.

Mr. Vengu is married with two children.
