Should "Hiroo" be replaced with "Hirō"? Peachypoh (talk) 13:49, 18 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I think that "Hiroo" is OK as it is for two reasons. (1) As far as I can see, Hiroo is a three-syllabled name, as the last "o" is often clearly pronounced as one syllable. In fact, Tokyo Metro spells Hiroo Station as Hiro-o Sta while it spells Ningyōchō Station (人 Nin 形 gyō 町 chō) as Ningyocho Sta, which implies that Tokyo Metro at least recognizes that the two o's in Hiroo are pronounced separately. (2) The two o's belong to different kanjis (広 Hiroo). Two similar examples of such case are Kii Peninsula (紀 Kii) and Ii Naosuke (井 Ii). --Occhanikov (talk) 12:49, 19 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
