The meaning of establishing KGS Code
KGS Codes have been legislated and been in operation in order to secure the public gas safety and develope gas
industries.
They have been solving problems such as delayed adoption of new technologies,
recurrence of same accidents
and conflict to the international standards by shortening
complicated procedure of establishment and revision in
law.
KGS Codes are based on the Korea Gas Acts (High-Pressure Gas Safety Control Act,
Safety Control and Business of Liquefied Petroleum Gas Act, Urban Gas Business Act).
Effect of Introduction of KGS Code
- Establishment and revision procedures of technical standards in gas safety area were shortened by
introduction of KGS Code. -

KGS Codes are the detailed standards for technical matters such as facility, technology, and inspection stipulated
in relevant Acts and subordinate statutes.
As technical standards in gas safety areas, KGS Codes are deliberated and resolved by the gas technical standards committee and approved by Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy.
