Lock account to fight vandalism

[edit]

I see that this page is currently being damaged by a group of unknown editors. Seniors editors should please watch this page to avoid untraceable vandalism. Thanks. OLYRIDWANA (talk) 20:36, 7 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@OLYRIDWANA, the page has been protected. Schazjmd (talk) 20:55, 7 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the prompt response. I can still spot major unverified statements, however. Please double check that the page is locked. OLYRIDWANA (talk) 21:13, 7 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Content dispute

[edit]

@Freddie Cas, Dacuban1, and OLYRIDWANA:: rather than place an edit-warring notice on each of your talk pages, I'm pinging you to the talk page where you need to discuss the inclusion of the Daily Post Nigeria article. All of you need to stop editing until you reach a consensus here on whether to include the content or not. Schazjmd (talk) 21:44, 7 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, sorry I just got the notification Freddie Cas (talk) 21:47, 7 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I, for a person, do not have issues with the content on the page.
I made the removal while trying to undo recent additions made on the page.
The political atmosphere is tensed at the moment, and some persons have thought to resort to vandalism of the subject's page in protest or condemnation of his candidacy.
That's the best explanation I can give.
I am fine with any content that is backed by a credible source, and not some random news blogs. OLYRIDWANA (talk) 21:54, 7 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Dacuban1:, the content has two sources:[1][2] What are your objections to the sources?
Also, as an observation: if consensus is to include the content, I believe it belongs in the Career -> Politics section rather than the lead which should only summarize the body of the article. Schazjmd (talk) 22:00, 7 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
You’re right Schazjmd, we should go with this. Freddie Cas (talk) 22:02, 7 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Daily Post (Nigeria) and Sahara Reporters are credible sources that reported the incident, i don’t know the reason you had to remove it. Did you go through the articles before taking your action? Freddie Cas (talk) 22:01, 7 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
While we give Dacuban1 time to respond, does anyone think the wording that was being added/reverted/added/reverted is a neutral summary of the sources? Schazjmd (talk) 22:09, 7 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Freddie Cas, I am wondering how you are only 3 months old here as a wiki editor.
I have gone through your contributions, quite impressive. I “think” you are hiding your identity. Your recent edits have been about the opponent of this subject -and, it been in the “positive”. I see a lot of conflict of interest here.
I do not “think” you're fit as a contributor for this contents.

You should desist from being partisan if you must contribute, plus, use your older editor profile for better reference.

Cheers. OLYRIDWANA (talk) 22:12, 7 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

False, this is my only account.
I joined 3 months ago and have been systematically learning on here. Any problem with me joining 3 months ago?
Same here, i have gone through your contributions, 5 years with 137 edits. You do not think I’m a fit as a contributor for this contents? I should be the one telling you that, you’re mad because I’m against your vandalism. Freddie Cas (talk) 22:26, 7 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I will pass the content if he can produce alternative sources from the topmost media outfits such as The Punch, The Guardian, or The Nation.
The platform he is quoting are random tabloids. Plus, if the statement is anything to go by, objectively, it should come as “allegedly”. I believe he knows better.
I am only wondering why the input is now, especially from a 3 month old editor who is backing another candidate.
It's my bedtime. I am retiring to bed. Thanks. OLYRIDWANA (talk) 22:20, 7 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@OLYRIDWANA and Freddie Cas:: both of you need to stop the personal aspersions (WP:NPA). No more personal remarks or insinuations. Discuss content only, not each other. Schazjmd (talk) 22:30, 7 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Below are more sources i found,

It's best if Freddie’s input be assessed by a third party editor.

Caution should be taken in not getting misled by headlines.

That's the professional thing to do here. That way, we can see who is playing partisan on an objective platform as Wiki.

I hope the erring editor can be sanctioned, too. It helps to observe due diligence next time. OLYRIDWANA (talk) 22:48, 7 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@OLYRIDWANA, please comment on the additional sources that have just been provided in the thread and stop talking about other editors. Schazjmd (talk) 22:49, 7 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Going by additional sources provided, the statement should be re-worded and accommodated on the page. What we can establish from the sources is his involvement, quoting reports from the judicial panel.OLYRIDWANA (talk) 23:07, 7 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
If you both can work out an appropriate neutral summary, based on the sources, it can be added to the article. Schazjmd (talk) 23:22, 7 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I totally agree with you,
2020 Lekki shooting
According to the Judicial Panel of Lagos State, On 20 October, 2020, Sanwo-Olu ordered the killing of young Nigerians during the EndSARS protest. Source = [3]https://gazettengr.com/sanwo-olu-lied-lagos-governor-invited-nigerian-soldiers-who-massacred-endsars-protesters-at-lekki-tollgate-judicial-panel/
I’m okay with this, please indicate if you are too. If you’re not okay with it feel free to add or remove anything and reword it the best way you think it would fit in the article, thanks. Freddie Cas (talk) 23:49, 7 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
First off, it doesn't need it's own heading. Second, where in the source does it say he "ordered the killing"? It says he invited the Army in. Even the General's testimony to the Judicial Panel of Inquiry states only that he asked the Army to intervene.[4] Schazjmd (talk) 23:55, 7 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
